About our Charity Event and Sponsers…

CRY (Cardiac Risk In The Young)

Preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness screening and research, and supporting affected families. The emotional impact of the sudden, seemingly inexplicable death of a young person on their family cannot be underestimated. CRY offers emotional and clinical support following a young sudden cardiac death.
Screening to identify young people at risk is cost-effective when conducted correctly – the conditions can be treated, securing a future for those identified. All young people should have the choice to be tested.
CRY’s research programme gives us unique access to general population-based data, enabling comparisons between athletes, ethnicities and gender. Better understanding of what is normal for young people, can better identify and treat those at risk.
Awareness not only helps identify those at risk, but also ensures correct clinical practice when treating a young person with an inherited cardiac condition.

Charity : RIDE FOR CHARLIE
RIDE FOR CHARLIE aim is to support young off road cyclists who are (or would have been) inspired by Charlie to follow in his pedal strokes.

About Charlie

Charlie was a special boy who went to sleep on Friday the 20 January and didn’t wake up, he was 15.  He left his family and friends in a state of shock and an incredible hole in our hearts. We miss him more every day. Those of you who knew Charlie, will understand what a talented young man he was and what a wonderful, caring, kind, funny, smiley personality he had.

Charlie loved his bike, riding ,racing and touring. He also loved having fun with his friends, meeting people, challenges, taking photos and films, cricket, fishing, his friends and his family. He also had an extremely creative mind ,whether it was drawing as a child, design or textiles.

Charlies recent achievement was winning two rounds of the cyclo cross national series and taking the title of the series champion. He was very proud and happy.Charlie took his achievements and losses with a smile and ready for his next event. His constant want for life and what it had to offer sometimes had us in a whirlwind. We loved every minute.Charlie was looking forward to a trip to Austria in the summer, to compete in the youth European championships.

Charlie had experienced Belgium Cyclo cross racing and was eager to return.
Charlie had the ability to communicate with anybody regardless of their age or interests, he had time for everyone. That is something we hope we can all learn from this special boy, he had time, patience and smiled constantly. He had a passion that most of us may never experience, he loved life.
